1979 John Deere 2440, sn.340702. Starts and runs good, it smokes a little and has some blow-by. The tach shows 1902 hours but doesn’t work, actual hours unknown. It has a 219 cu. in. 4 cylinder JD diesel engine. It’s rated at 60 pto horsepower and weighs about 5000 pounds. It has power steering, live power, 8 speed transmission, 3 point hitch (no toplink), and 540 pto. The rear tires are 16.9×28 one 85%, one 40% and weathered. The front tires are 9.5Lx15 about 80%. It has new paint and a new seat. It has some dents and wear. The 3 point arms have been broken and welded. The steering is loose, it needs new bushings in the steering arm and some tie-rod ends. This tractor runs and works good, but is rough in areas. Help yourself to a cheap 2440. It is a used tractor so it sells as-is. Buyer must pick it up or arrange transportation.
